Looking at lofts of many iron sets, I notice that there is usually a 4* gap from PW-5, but a 3* gap from 5-2. Anyone know why there isn't a 4* all the way through?

I had my irons adjusted starting with a 49* PW and 4* increments all the way through and am liking this gap better in the long irons.

That’s an interesting thought.  I'm not sure why most golf companies set up the iron degree seperation as such.

I know Ping has been notorious for having all strong degreed irons, enabling golfers to hit their irons farther, but in reality that Ping PW is really the loft of a 9 iron.

I think this trend has perpetrated into most other companies, as a way to increase iron distance now that most are at COR and material maximums.
